A non-governmental organisation, Daramola Dynasty Foundation in collaboration with the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, has provided free healthcare to no fewer than 300 Ogun State residents.
The free medical outreach held on Tuesday in Isara in the Remo North Local government area of the state provided essential healthcare services, including consultations, basic vital checks and drugs, eye screening, and supply of essential medications to the under-served population by addressing prevalent health issues within the community.
According to the organisers, the medical outreach was part of activities marking the 54th Afotamodi day of the town.
The Medical Director of FMC, Abeokuta, Dr Musa Olomu, while commending the initiative, described it as empowering the community with knowledge on preventive measures, healthy lifestyle practices, and disease management.
An integral part of the outreach which was also supported by Eye Foundation Hospital involved a health talk and medical training sessions by medical practitioners to educate and empower the community with knowledge on preventive measures, healthy lifestyle practices, and disease management.
The outreach convener, Ola Daramola noted that there is a need for proper medical healthcare and education to address a range of health concerns.
Daramola said the medical outreach sought to bridge the gap in health care access by the residents of the town as well as improve their wellbeing.
He added that comprehensive health screenings were provided to detect common health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, malaria, and eye issues, insisting that early detection allowed for timely intervention and management.
Daramola reiterated the importance of healthy living and how it was a priority to the foundation.

“Specialised teams provided vital check-ups and eye examinations by identifying and addressing body and visual health issues within the community. A well-stocked pharmacy dispensed prescribed medications at no cost, ensuring that individuals had access to essential medicines following their consultations,” he said.
Daramola reiterated the importance of healthy living, adding that, “Community members gained valuable insights into maintaining good health through interactive health education sessions thus fostering a culture of preventive healthcare.”
