Power rotation has come to stay in Ebonyi – Group – The Sun Nigeria

From Chijioke Agwu, Abakaliki

Youths in Ebonyi Central Senatorial District of Ebonyi State have re-echoed their full support for the seamless rotation of the Governorship position of the state among the three senatorial districts of the state.

The youths under the aegis of Ezza North Youths General Assembly at a press conference in Abakaliki after their general meeting on Monday noted that peaceful rotation of power among the three senatorial districts will eschew rancour, acrimony and pave the way for speedy development of the State.

President of the group, Mr Emeka Nwokporo, who read the communique raised after their meeting, called on the 2023 Governorship candidates of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Ifeanyi Odoh and that of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Chukwuma Odii, to stop contesting the victory of Governor Francis Nwifuru in courts.

The group noted that the power rotation principle of the state as dictated by the founding fathers of the state, does not favour both Odoh and Odii who hail from Ebonyi Central and Ebonyi South senatorial district respectively.

“Consequently, the apex youth body wants to reiterate their earlier stand and position but in a broader manner by calling on our brothers, Prof. Ifeanyi Odoh and Chief Chukwuma Odii to wholeheartedly accept the outcome of the Ebonyi Governorship Election Petition Tribunal judgement which is the true reflection of the mandate Ebonyians bestowed on Governor Nwifuru.

“That Mr Odii who is from Ebonyi South Zone is fully aware that the founding fathers of the state had enthroned the charter of equity in our political terrain upon which the three senatorial districts in the state rotate Governorship position and presently it is not the turn of Ebonyi South Zone to produce the Governor.”
